About The Speaker

Raymond Tempier

Dr. Raymond Tempier is a full professor of psychiatry at the Faculty of The University of Ottawa and consultant in psychiatry at Montfort Hospital and Minto Counselling Center in northeastern Ontario. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Saskatchewan and visiting professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He is also a senior researcher in mental health at the Research Institute of the Montfort Hospital. Dr. Tempier was Associate Professor of Psychiatry at McGill University, Montreal. He has been a consultant psychiatrist in several hospitals in France, Quebec and Saskatchewan. Dr. Tempier was recognized in 2012 as Distinguished Fellow of the Canadian Psychiatric Association and since 2011 has been an honorary member of the World Association of Psychiatry. His current major research interests include research on mental health services, program evaluation, implementation of collaborative models for primary care, and psychiatric epidemiology. He is also interested in the mental health of minorities in Canada, Francophone and native communities in particular. Dr. Tempier holds a medical degree from the University of Aix-Marseille II, France, and has obtained specialty psychiatry certifications from France, Quebec and Canada. He is an Associate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 1986. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Community Health, Research Option, from the University of Montreal. He has published over 100 articles and 180 abstracts and numerous technical reports, theses and book chapters. Dr. Tempier speaks French, English, German and Spanish.
